Let’s Colour is a worldwide initiative to transform grey spaces with colourful paint.

This 2 minute global film was shot by multi-award winning director Adam Berg over four weeks in Brazil, France, London and India. Every location is real and they remain transformed by a palette consisting of 120 different colours. The people in the film are not actors, they are real people who rolled up their sleeves to transform their community with colour.

Just days ago, a gang of islamist thugs attacked the Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks during a university lecture near Stockholm. Earlier this year, Vilks was the target of an assassination plot hatched by an American woman named Colleen LaRose — a religious zealot who goes by “Jihad Jane” online. Seven individuals were arrested in Ireland in connection with that plot. In addition to the obligatory fatwa, an affiliate of Al Queda has reportedly placed a bounty of $150,000 on the Vilks’ head for the ‘crime’ of insulting Islam by making a cartoon of the religion’s prophet. But, let’s not forget, it’s a peaceful religion.

Swedish Mohammed cartoonist attacked during free speech lecture

A Swedish cartoonist whose sketch of the Prophet Mohammed enraged many Muslims, was attacked while giving a lecture about freedom of speech.

Lars Vilks, who depicted the Prophet Mohammad with the body of a dog in 2007, said he was headbutted by a man sitting on the front row as he spoke at the University of Uppsala, about 44 miles from Stockholm.

A spokesman for Uppsala police said about 20 people tried to attack Mr Vilks after interrupting his lecture, adding that the police had to intervene to stop them. Two people were detained. Mr Vilks was not immediately available to comment further. He says he has received death threats since his Prophet sketch.

Lars Vilks, the Swedish cartoonist who drew Mohammed as a dog, was recently told that a scheduled lecture on free speech, to be held at Jönköping Högskolan, would be canceled due to “security concerns.” This, of course, is a common evasion, intended to protect the brittle sensibilities of Muslim students while supposedly standing four square behind the right of free speech.

Alas, the administrators in Jönköping had a point. During a lecture in Uppsala today Vilks was attacked by a pack of feral fundamentalists, one of whom managed to headbutt the artist and break his glasses. Police intervened and waged a short battle with the religious nutters who can be heard in the video below, captured by the newspaper UNT, shouting Allahu Akbar! The AP has a quick report, explaining that “Uppsala University spokeswoman Pernilla Bjork said Vilks was showing a provocative film with sexual content to the crowd when the attacker ran up and hit him in the face with his fists.”

As biologist, blogger and non-believer PZ Myers put it in his post called Violence is not free speech, “That’s ugly. Muslims everywhere should be embarrassed, and should be repudiating the behavior of those thugs. Peaceful protest is one thing, but there is no offense in a cartoon that justifies leaping up and punching someone.”
