NOM’s latest ad campaign blitz hits Minnesota to the tune of $200,000

Look out, Minnesota! You’ve just been invaded by what used to be called outside agitators. From The Minnesota Independent:
“[The Washington, DC-based] NOM sees Minnesota as the next key battleground state in the fight to preserve marriage in America,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president, in a statement Tuesday. “Many Minnesotans are unaware that special interest groups are working to convince activist judges and DFL lawmakers to redefine marriage in the state.”
Tom Prichard, president of the Minnesota Family Council praised the ads: “We welcome NOM to Minnesota and appreciate their efforts to inform Minnesotans on the serious threat to marriage in our state.

The National Organization for Marriage is, in reality, little more than a carpetbagging special interest group that traipses from state to state mucking around in other people’s business and screaming like stuck piggies when they have to comply with state laws pertaining to ethics and donor reporting. Confronted with the reality of sunshine laws, NOM blitzkriegs in its legal goon squad, and they all start screeching about religious liberties and free speech — both of which are already protected by a little thing called the US Constitution.
Let the people vote says NOM. What a novel idea … not.
NOM associate Bigot Harry Jackson has been testing that one in the DC market. Looks like NOM’s diabolical duo Maggie Gallagher and Brian Brown think it might work on Minnesotans.
So, just for the sake of conversation, let the people vote.
Let the people vote on Brown v Board of Education, Loving v Virginia, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Heck! Americans were denied the right to vote on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Let’s vote on both of them. This whole electing representatives to, for lack of a better word, represent us is worse than tyranny. To hell with representative democracy. Let the people vote on everything!
NOM isn’t really interested in letting the people vote. They’re only interested in making sure that gay and lesbian Minnesotans — your family, friends and coworkers — are relegated to permanent second class citizenship. The lies they’ll tell to hurt people are shameful.
