As a reminder, director Reed Cowan’s highly anticipated documentary, 8: The Mormon Proposition, will debut at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in January in Park City, Utah. The film is described as “a scorching indictment of the Mormon Church’s historic involvement in the promotion and passage of California’s Proposition 8.” Bankrolled by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Prop 8 was ostensibly about preserving the “traditional definition” of marriage and resulted in the elimination of the existing legal right of gay and lesbian Californians to enter into civil marriages.
