According to PinkNews, an LGBT coalition of progressive faith and secular groups, called Cutting Edge Consortium, will be launched today.
The new LGBT consortium has the backing of the British Humanist Association:
The British Humanist Association (BHA) has given its support to the launch of the ‘Cutting Edge Consortium’, a unique coalition of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered groups, political social justice activists, people of all faiths and none, trades unions and professional associations.
Andrew Copson, BHA Director of Education and Public Affairs, who will be speaking at the launch meeting in Parliament tonight, said, ‘The BHA is pleased to be involved in this new, progressive forum, which continues our involvement from the Faith, Homophobia, Transphobia and Human Rights conference. Tonight’s meeting will provide a forum for progressive non-religious and religious groups, with others, to discuss the opt-outs in the Equality Bill for religious groups.’
‘The BHA has consistently campaigned to have abolished the unjust and unnecessary provisions in our equality laws that allow religious groups to discriminate against others on the basis of sexual orientation, religion or belief, marital status and more. In the context of the Equality Bill, currently making its way through Parliament, not only are we working to have those exceptions removed but we are working with our allies to oppose any attempts by religious groups to win even wider exemptions from equality law than they are already afforded.’

According to PinkNews, “The event takes place between 7 and 9pm on Tuesday November 24th in Committee Room 5, House of Commons.” For additional information: cuttingedgeconsortium1 [at sign] googlemail [dot] com
