Dan Savage: “President gets ‘F’ on gay rights issues”
(video: MSNBC, via NewsPoliticsNews at YouTube)
Dan Savage’s Love Letter of the Day was addressed to the President formerly known as our “fierce advocate of equality for gay and lesbian Americans.” Savage had been invited to speak to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell about “the controversy surrounding Obama’s invitation to give the commencement address at Notre Dame University this weekend.” Mitchell, aware of the growing antipathy toward President Obama over both his inattention to GLBT issues and the cover-up of and refusal to prosecute the previous administration for its violations of international accords governing the use of torture, ventured into territory that is becoming all too familiar.
At the Stranger’s SLOG, Savage addresses both the MSNBC interview and the must-read piece by Andrew Sullivan, from which I posted a tiny excerpt earlier today.
