Divisive (Video: No on Prop 8, via YouTube)
Last week the false-witness-bearers behind Prop 8 sent out a deceptive mailer featuring Senator Barack Obama. The piece was clearly intended to give the impression that the Democratic presidential candidate backs their determined effort to write their divisive discrimination into the California Constitution.
We know for a fact that Mr Obama opposes the proposition; he said so in a letter to the Alice B Toklas GLBT Democratic Club. In a recent interview, broadcast on MTV, Obama labeled the proposition “unnecessary.” He added, ”I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that’s not what America’s about. Usually, our constitutions expand liberties, they don’t contract them.”
Mr Obama has also stated that he is open to changing his mind about marriage equality. In The New York Times he said, despite his religion-based view, he is “open to the possibility” that his views may be “misguided.”
What is truly misguided is the pro-hate sect’s false claim that Senator Obama champions their cause.

I must say that I really applaud the campaign directors making a complete turn around and using these politicans own words because they’re in fact afraid to make their own No pitch (Obama and Arnie).
This type of ad should have been run during the week after Labor Day.
The “new” team at least has it in the right path.
I agree Tom.
With an Obama landslide, barring a reoccurrence of the Bradley effect, all but assured in California and with the possibility of one in four Obama backers voting for the passage of Prop 8 on religious grounds, it seems irresponsible of Obama not to have, in no uncertain terms, reiterated and very loudly his position that a constitutional amendment is wrongheaded and unfair.
It’s disappointing that Arnold, in the meantime, is off in some other state throwing his massive weight behind McSame’s sinking Titanic.
However, given the profound idiocy of Schwarzenegger’s recent comments about Obama’s “skinny legs” and “scrawny arms,” perhaps it’s just as well. With friends like these, etc.
Chalk it up to his steroid-addled brain turning to mush — a trait that seems to run in Republican California governors. Think Reagan.
I saw a recent shirtless pic of Arnie. His wrinkled, sagging skin reminded me of an elephant’s knee. Now I have to go throw up.
